Welcome to Haunted Abilene's
"A Nightmare on Swenson Street"
Every year for the past 11 years the Swenson House has hosted Haunted Abilene. The Swenson House is a Commissioned Texas Historical Landmark. Once home to one of Abilene's most influential families, the Swensons. The house was passed from the family to the Abilene Preservation League for the city to enjoy. The house sits on an entire city block & was built in 1910. You wouldn't believe this house existed in Abilene, Tx in 1910.
The Preservation League has since passed the property management on to the Swenson House Historical Society in 2018. We are proud to be one of the original haunted houses that is still operating every Halloween in the Big Country.
The haunted house features a "Haunted Trolley" that will be running a new route this year that we think passengers are going to enjoy. It is narrated by docents & lasts about 20 minutes, starting & ending on Swenson Street in front of the house. The trolley tickets can be purchased separate or in combination with a general admission ticket.
NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE HOUSE
The Haunted House tours the rooms of the Swenson House in small groups. The grand staircase foyer is where you begin & you will go upstairs & downstairs through this historic home. The decorations are elaborate. We are family friendly & we don't "jump scare." Our volunteers want you to have a good time! As you exit the house, there is a pumpkin patch for selfies that is a free feature.
You are welcome to roam the property & enjoy some of the other free games & movies that are played in the yard. You can purchase items from the food trucks that offer their menus to the public.
